The Importance Of Jumping Into The Action
First of all, I haven't sent out my query and synopsis yet. Still waiting for those international reply coupons from the post office. In the meantime I've done enough editing on the manuscript so I'm putting it aside and bringing out Dreamer's Sea.

So, I'm reading through the beginning and I've decided it's a really slow start. Now this story isn't short by any means. It's not meant to be a Harlequin or Silhouette, but a single title. My question is, in a single title, longer book, how important is it to jump right into the action? I know that in shorter works it's necessary, but is it for longer?

Because if it is then I'm going to have to rewrite the beginning of Dreamer's Sea.

That makes me want to weep.

It's been a very hectic week, which is why I haven't posted much at all. But at least I've been getting my editing done. Seriously though, I'm sick of editing.

Off to work. I should get at least one more hour in tonight.

Best Laid Plans
Are generally the ones that blow up in our face.

Well, had my nice neat query and synopsis all set to go on Friday. I went to the post office after work, ready to mail it out to Harlequin Blaze. It's going to Canada and requires a self addressed stamp envelope so I can get my response for them. Nooo problem. Right?

No.

They, or course, don't carry Canadian postage. Didn't expect them too. But they also didn't have the international reply coupons that are required. So no luck there. I go to another post office. THAT post mistress told me she didn't think they even have them anymore.

So this is ridiculous! How in the world am I to get my beautiful Q & S, which could change my whole life and boost my writing career, to where it needs to go???? I was given much needed advice from writing friends, that I have to request the IRCs from the post office, and they order them (I think they should have them on hand anyway). I may try a different post office this week.

But come on, folks, this shouldn't be this difficult!

Ahhh, the joys of living in a small town.

Oh, and I have new neighbors. Again.

Quickie post
It's getting late and I should be getting ready for work, but I just wanted to shout out that I'm sending my query and synopsis out to Harlequin Blaze today!!!

And I'm nearly finished with my editing on That Kind Of Magic, although I've come to a spot where I know I should do some reconstruction. That's frustrating, finding that bump in the road that needs to be dealt with before moving on. For some reason I have such a hard time rewriting scenes but trying to keep things so I don't have to change the fabric of the story completely. It's a good thing I'll have plenty of time to fix it before I hear back from HQ.

It's a gorgeous Friday and I'm going to be stuck in the office then a car. But if I wasn't, I'd just sit at my keyboard, so what's the difference?

Progress At Last
I'm sending my query and synopsis out this week, come Heck or high water. I'm 100 pages away from being finished with my editing, which actually is going pretty well so I'm sure that it'll be done and ready to go by the time Harlequin Blaze requests the full. I'm going to stay positive. They WILL ask and they WILL love it.

I hope.

I hear that Blaze wants its authors to submit at least 2 manuscripts a year. I wonder if I have at least 2 Blazes a year in me. I do have several possibilities though. But do I want to go that way or do I want to go for an agent and write how I want to write instead of writing one single style.

Then I have to turn my attention to Dreamer's Sea again. I'm wondering if I should continue submitting it to the crit group. I love them but it's such a looooong process.

It'll be worth it in the end. It has to be worth it in the end.

Oh, I'm so happy!! I found Blake Shelton's new video on You Tube

How Can It Be Done?
I need to somehow take a 60K manuscript and squish it into a 2 page (double spaced) synopsis. Heck, I'm over a page and they haven't even gone on their first date!

This is going to be vewy vewy twickey.

Yeah, I know, I haven't blogged in ages. Life has been hectic and stressful this past week. I'm hoping for smoother sailing this week despite the doctor's appointments and parent/teacher conferences.

I need a getaway!!!!

But synopsis first....

This Is No Fun
I'm trying to update my website without the help of my webmaster.

It isn't working. At all.

Okay, so the good news is that with his help, I've got a new free read up and running. But I'm trying to do the reviews and even with the handy dandy book on Front Page I'm still having issues. In fact I now have no graphics on my page. My webmaster is going to be displeased. BUT the review posted.

My stomach hurts.

Some people just weren't meant to do things like this. I'm one of them. Give me my manuscript and I'm a happy camper.

Speaking of which, I've been busy working on That Kind Of Magic, my potential Blaze. I added a much needes scene in and now I'm over the maximum word count for Blaze, so I have to shave off 1200 words. How come it's easier to add words than to remove them? I'm very tempted to write my query and synopsis for this story and get it sent out to Harlequin Blaze even though the editing isn't done. I know, bad idea.

I'm home today. I had things to do but it didn't happen. I guess this is okay too. Nothing like messing up my website and working on my editing.

Gonna be a good day. I need a little cheering up.
