????
What was he supposed to be? My stepdaughter was reading a poem that mentioned Gumby so I felt compelled to show her a picture.

It's a mystery. To me at least.

And I'm just wasting time because I'm supposed to be doing other non-writing related things and I really don't want to. We're redecorating and I should be cleaning off my desk so it can be moved.

Tomorrow. I'll do it tomorrow.

Short Post
Because I have to go to work. Bad timing. I got on a bit of a writing roll (when I could concentrate. Between cats and kids it's a wonder I can string three words together) last night. I've started to write a new beginning to Dreamer's Sea, something with a little less talk and a lot more action, maybe giving me the ability to cut down on some of my heroines internal thoughts.

Will this story never end?? It was born on Nov 1, 2006. I think it's time for it to leave home.

Week From Hell
Thank God it's behind me. I don't want a repeat. It started off with all our windows being replaced which meant moving furniture in everyroom. That was a two day affair, followed quickly by a new heater being installed. More moving of furniture, more people in and out of the place. I had sick kids, one trip to the doctor for one of them, I was sick, and we had a 2 day yard sale to deal with (I made a whoppin 23.00). Oh, and Friday was the one year anniversary of my father's death. Did I get any writing done?

Yah, riiiight.

So, I'm hoping that this week will be a little calmer. I have to rewrite the beginning of Dreamers Sea YET again (one of these days I'll get it right), write my synopsis and maybe just maybe by the end of the week I'll be ready to send a query out on it.

Oh please, powers that be... give me a quiet week. (excuse me while I laugh)

And no word from Harlequin Blaze yet.

NaNo Coming Soon!
Though I'm still not 100% sure I'll participate, I'm still thinking about story ideas. I have a few.

I have a question though. I have a Part Two of a trilogy I've wanted to work on. Part One is pretty much done though it needs major work. I started working on Part Two a few years back. I really like the story and want to continue with it. So, would it be cheating to start this one fresh? I'm not talking picking up where I left off~that would be cheating. But I'd like to go in at a different angle. Same characters, same basic storyline, just a few bits rearranged here and there. I'd really like to work on this. It would either be a stand alone story or I've considered making it one long book broken into three parts.

Okay, onto other news.... I finished first round of edits on Dreamers Sea. I have to send it off to a friend to look over it. I'm still in the process of submitting chapters to my crit group, but that is going to take looong time to get every chapter critiqued (I'm on chapter 4 of about 32 chapters). So I may scratch that idea and attempt it on my own.

Not that I'll get much done over the next few days. The landlord is having new windows installed in our building. I have to make sure there's nothing near any of the windows. I just love moving furniture.

Okay, off I go. Nearly time to call it a day.

A Bit Of Memory Lane
So my ex has been cleaning up one of his storage rooms that consists of things that had been stored up at his mother's house in Maine. On occasion he comes across items that belong to me. He tosses them into a box and it comes back to me. It's always fun to see what the heck I left behind (about 15 years ago). Let see, this box contained:

A horse's bit (from my riding days nearly 20 years ago)
A pair of spurs (ditto)
A riding crop (ditto)
7 Breyer horses (very cool, I still have a collection)
An accordian file full of information on theatres across the country from my college days when I was looking for a place to intern.
A wall hanging of cartoon horses (Thelwell Ponies for those who may recognize them)
A Christmas stocking
Two sketch pads, complete with sketches from my "really weird Tolkeinish creature" period
Two pencil portraits of some family members who I don't recognize. I think my grandmother and great uncle
A portfolio of my early writing, some from my college creative writing course. I got a B. It was really bad..... I mean reeeeaaaalllllyyyyy bad.

But he still hasn't found my good family heirloom china.

I'm closing in on the finish of this book, but seriously considering going back and adding A LOT more detail to it. I love description and I think I could use more of it. But I'm torn. Being nearly done with it, it would be so easy to just say, okay I'm done, and send out the synopsis and detail be darned.

I'm just very ready to be done with this project!

MIA Again
And there's no excuse.

Yes, I've been editing. Nearly done with the editing for Dreamer's Sea, except for the crit process.

So, I ask, how much stock do/should writers put in critiques? I'm just afraid with this story that by waiting for the crit process to be finished I'll be 89 years old and I'll have to rewrite the whole thing. Well, maybe 45. It's long book. So, should I depend on these critiques or just trust my own judgement and send it out when I my editing done?

I'm still waiting to hear from Harlequin Blaze regarding the status of That Kind Of Magic. Anytime now. Aaaanytime. Well, anytime between now and November.

Not much going on in my world. Kids are back to school and the projects are starting to pour in, as are school photos and soon fundraisers. Ca-ching!! I havent even recovered from school shopping.

Well, must be getting back to what I do to earn a paycheck. Not writing. yet.
