First of all, congrats to Marianne on her release of Kitchen Matches!
I've been making some progress finally on my edits. I've been going through my first three chapters and cutting out back story like a mad woman. I've added some new stuff and broke up one chapter into two chapters. I've ended up with an extra 4 pages because of this. I hope though that it's a better start, not that the original was bad but I have a horrible habit of being repetitive with my information, being a little too introspective and adding too much back story in big lumps. I've really gotten mixed opinions on the subject, from readers and writers alike, but the general concensus is that too much back story is not a good thing. Okay, fine, I can deal with that.
We actually have sunshine here. It's been so stormy this summer. Makes everything green, but it also makes my kids crazy because they can't get out like they want. And school starts in less than 3 weeks. They're not happy about that.
So, now I'm going to grab a few minutes of editing before I have to go do something I really don't want to do.Labels: back to editing, New Releases, storms |
Progress is good.
And I can't believe "Kitchen Matches" comes out TOMORROW. Holy cow!
