| NaNoing and Other Things |
Well, Day 3 of NaNoWriMo is here and I'm very underwhelmed at my progress. I hit a wall right away (well, about 2000 words in or so) so I switched to a different project yesterday. I figure better to switch early than halfway through. I've done better. Current word count is 4210. I should be at 5000. Well, not too bad I guess, but this is not the project I had wanted to work on.
Not that I don't like the story.
Of course today I have errands to run which should keep me well away from my writing for a good long time *sigh*.
My birthday was yesterday. The big FOUR FIVE. Yes, I'm now on the downward spiral to the big FIVE OHH. No, I won't look at it that way. It's just that 50 is such a BIG number! Half a century. Yikes! But isn't 50 the new 30? I'm trying to put a positive spin on this! I did get a lovely present for my b'day--a new laptop. It's sitting right next to me. Don't know if it's ready to go but it sure is purty.
OH OH OH!! Best Man got another review over at The Long and the Short of It Reviews. Go check it out! It got 4 Books! Love it!!

| Launching and Long Weeks |
I have to say congrats to The Long And The Short Of It for their relaunching of their fabulous review site, including their erotic review site Whipped Cream Erotic Romance Reviews. And they put Where One Road Leads on the site. Thanks so much ladies!
I think we're returning to normal here at the Hebert household. Even though we're in the grip of a heat wave, I'm at least getting my work done. My husband went back to work last night though he's only on light duty and if things don't look good with his arm on Friday they may put him in a cast. Not too much fun, but I have my house back in the evenings. I love my DH but during the 12 years we've been married he's always worked nights and I've been spoiled by our schedule. I have more chances to get my work done.
As for me I had some minor surgery (really minor, only took 15 minutes from start to finish) last week that has left me with stitches and a headache on a daily basis. But at least I have everything ready to be printed to be sent off to Harlequin. I'm pretty excited! I hope they like it. What a tremendous step it would be to be published by Harlequin, one of the goals in my life.
School is almost over, just two more weeks. I think I'm actually happy, I don't have to get them up early.
I'm going to get a contest together for Where One Road Leads starting next Monday. And I'm pleased to say there's a limited number of copies that can be purchased through my website It's All About The Romance. So far just Sweet Forever and WORL are available. I hope to have copies of Finally Home soon.

| Goals and Such |
I have finally remembered my ideas on a possible NaNoWriMo project. All last week I was trying to remember what I wanted to write about. I had had an idea but for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was. Put it down to too much going on in my life right now. But yesterday I remembered what it was and began to expand on it. I think, before I lose it again, I'll need to start taking notes.
The only question is.... will I do NaNoWriMo this year. I've had 2 successful years in a row. My first attempt was Where One Road Leads. Last year's project was Dreamer's Sea which I'm now polishing up so I can find me an agent. I can't complain about either projects (though I really thought DS was hopeless when I finished NaNo last year).
So IF I can finish the editing (which includes adding a LOT of new stuff to boost it from the 56K it is right now to, I'm hoping, 65K by the time it's ready to send out) on DS by the end of October I can start sending it out to be critiqued. OR put it aside starting November 1st and do NaNo. I'm not sure I can do NaNo AND do all the critwork necessary on DS.
I really should work soley on DS. But I love the NaNoWriMo challenge and the thought of getting another book out of it.
Well, I have a month to think about it.
My friend Marianne is having some contests over at her blog. And don't forget that my short story Little Matchmakers is still posted over at The Long And The Short Of It until Wednesday, though it'll be archieved after that. LASR has some wonderful short stories. I highly recommend them.

Now it's 6am and that means TIME TO GET READY FOR WORK.

| Short Story |
I have a short story posted over at The Long And The Short Of It this week, starting today.

| Growing Words and Finding Things |
Yesterday my son wanted to go ride his bike up at the school playground (that's the closest decent place to ride around here). I really didn't want to go. The Bad Evil Mom that I am wanted to stay home and edit but the day was too beautiful and I had a notebook and knew I could sit at a picnic table and work on a scene that I'd been writing for Dreamers Sea. I pulled the car forward to load up the bike and looked down. In the dirt in the drive was a pendant that I'd lost, oh, a good 2-3 years ago, one that I'd gotten for my b'day years and years ago. I couldn't believe that it was there! It's a little worse for wear, looking as if it's been sandblasted a bit and polish didn't shine it up too much, but I'm so psyched! I doubt I would've found it if my son hadn't wanted to go ride his bike. My evil neighbors probably would've found it. So that was good. And I got several pages written to boot (even though the bike's tires were too soft to be much use)
I've probably added nearly 2000 words to Dreamers Sea since starting to edit. I need to add another 25K to be happy, so I'm desperately looking for new scenes to add. I'm trying to boost the romance in the book which was tepid at best (on purpose-this was not to be a spicy book by any means and I dont' mean to make it spicy, but I do want the characters to share a few more kisses and tender moments). I'd love to end up with a 75K (or longer) book to present to an agent.
There has been NaNoWriMo talk going on lately. I haven't decided whether I'm going to take the plunge. I think it depends on where I am on the editing process for DS although I'd hope I'd be finished by Nov. 1st so I could plunge into a new project. The question is, is it more important to plunge into something new or work on something already in progress? I do have the sequel to Sweet Forever that's waiting for my attention and while I do have another story idea in mind I'm not convinced yet that it'll stand up to 50k. I guess the best thing right now is to just concentrate on Dreamers Sea and not worry about the rest til later.
On another note, The Long And The Short Of It will post a short story by moi next Thursday, September 27th. If you haven't checked out their short story section I highly recommend it, they've got some good ones over there.
